The four Wrappers tracks on this album feature duet variations on the same stem files of percussion, cello and pump-organ - on each variation a different instrument track is sound treated through live electronic processing and played back against an untreated original.
All other tracks are group improvisations.
MakeShift reformed in June 2020 after playing their last gig together 30 years ago.
In the early 80s MakeShift was one of a number of free improvisation groups to emerge in London performing regularly at the London Musicians Collective and at other venues.
Members have remained close friends and have collaborated on numerous projects in the interim, but, in the wake of the corona-virus pandemic and working remotely and online, a new sound emerged for the band, a new approach to working mirroring the times.
This is their first album since reforming.
